Who We Are
With humble roots in the Return Jonathan Meigs Chapter Daughters of the Revolution to the Chester Shade Historical Association, it has always been about preserving history forward for posterity. The idea of preserving the old Chester Courthouse and the Chester Academy along with historical artifacts and documents is a big part of what keeps us alive. The CSHA is a living, evolving organization with a goal of helping our school children maintain an appreciation of our past by providing educational exhibits and events.

The idea for Chester Shade Historical Association was born in 1978, when a group of local history enthusiasts came together to discuss the need for a dedicated organization to preserve and share the history of our community. Thanks to their vision and hard work, Chester Shade Historical Association was officially founded in 1980.
